GARY'S ADVENTURES IN THAILAND 2011

Vacation is great but, you do understand, that I am still working. I keep pretty much to the same work schedule as back in Sydney except there is a 4 hour difference between Sydney and Rayong – I must wake up at 4 a.m. to check my e-mails for any work that may have come in. If nothing, I go back to sleep and re-check my computer again in an hour or so – continuing that process until I shower and go for a leisurely breakfast. After breakfast I would return to my room and check for work again – if nothing, I would go and do something (reading, shopping etc) for say an hour or so, continuing in this manner until noon (4 p.m. in Sydney) at which time I stop work. So, there is no pressure on me and I have lots of recreational time. In any case, I only have a 4 day work week (Wednesdays is my day off) of which my clients are aware and accept, scheduling their work accordingly (this applies to whether I am working from Sydney, Thailand or wherever I might locate myself).
So, I guess I have the best of both worlds. It is a good position to be in and hope that it continues.
Michael, you’d enjoy the breakfasts here – unlike Jakarta their bacon is quite good in this hotel. Although their buffet displays a really “crisp” bacon, there is also what I term an “undercooked” bacon which can (if you wish) be taken to the ‘egg chef’ who will place in a pan and fry to your liking. The selections are immense and, if I were to have a guest for breakfast I receive what I understand to be a lower rate for my guest of 201BHT (A$6.70) – obviously my breakfast is included with my room rate of 1,500BHT per night.
I’ve been trying to swim twice a day (e.g. early in the mornings and then around 5 p.m.). One of the staff at the gym (next to the roof top pool) has challenged me to a game of table tennis tonight at 6.30 – she’ll no doubt win as I haven’t played for years and, besides, my eyes aren’t all that good. But it will be fun. Unlike you, I am not a big fan of gym workouts but I’ll probably get some instructions on using the equipment soon. As a guest, the gym facility is also included in my room rate.
I made a mistake on my date of checkout – I told them the 21st November thinking I was arriving back in Sydney on Wednesday the 22nd but, in fact, Wednesday is the “23rd” and therefore the 21st turns out to be a day earlier than expected. I have been put on a list in case there is an early cancellation of a room and hopefully it won’t be a problem – but the hotel has been completely booked out because of the floods in Bangkok.
I do carry on a bit and apologise for same. And, if this reply is being received on your mobile phone, I better stop now as it may be a little difficult to read.
I send my every best wishes to you both,
Gary

Well, that does not surprise me. There are some bad people in Thailand, but many more good ones. Be careful of Internet girlfriends, as they normally have 2, even 10 guys on the go.
Sorry to hear Orng wasn't the one, but hey, there are lots of fish in the sea in Thailand...
And do tell Kameo House about what happened.
Hope u enjoy the rest of your trip.

Hi Michael and Carol,
A quick note about some suspicions I have.
In regards to Ms Orng (the Thai lady I came to see), I’ve come to the conclusion that she may be involved in a very elaborate “sting” operation at the Rayong City Hotel whereby they target foreigners to fleece them of their money – with me being the target. I also think there could be numerous people working at that restaurant/bar area involved in the operation and I possibly met the “ring leader” last night for the first time (I don’t know whether the ring leader actually worked there but he sure put on a show as if he did).
If my suspicions are correct, it is very likely that I could be putting myself in harms way if I continue to visit that hotel. As I don’t want to end up in hospital, I have decided not to return there.
I still haven’t decided whether or not I should contact the police about my suspicions but, in any case, I will notify the management of Kameo House. They can alert their security staff as to any strangers lurking in or about the hotel.
Interesting trip!
Regards,
Gary
