CEBU PART 1
We finally made it to Oslob, Cebu, Philippines.
After an excellent trip to Halifax, Nova Scotia to see Brian, Mylene, Jacob, Allysia, and Matt, I flew to Toronto on WestJet to meet Carol for our Philippines Airline flight to Manila. She took the train from Montreal, after spending time with Erin, Glenn, Norah, Leah, Jim (Dad) and Diane. The flight was uneventful, but at least they had movies. I got stuck in a middle seat again. Not great for the old back, but I think it was worse for the lady sitting next me to me in the aisle, as I woke her up or asked her to get by at least seven or eight times, LOL.
After getting to the domestic airport at Manila, my pillow went missing. The cleaners and security helped us look for it. One security guard found it. We thought it had been stolen, but it was under a chair...
Our flight from Manila to Cebu was upgraded to Premium Economy, so we got more food & drinks, as well as priority to get off the plane first. We then took a taxi to Oslob. We left my pillow at the airport!!
We could have taken a bus from Cebu to Oslob, but we opted for the taxi instead, because of all the traveling and lack of sleep. We saved several hours that way. Our taxi driver was nice, and we got to see a lot of Cebu Island on the way.
We got a massage when we arrived, walked a little, had some Filipino food (fish Sinagong [sour soup] and chicken curry) for lunch, and then slept from 2pm until 6am.
I got up this morning at 6am to go snorkeling with whale sharks. Carol did not go, out of respect for the whale sharks. Actually, there are men feeding them shrimp paste, so that they know to come to the area every morning. There were about ten whale sharks in the area. I kicked one once by mistake, but the shark didn't care. I touched them several times,, as they bump into you. They ranged in length from three to five or six meters. Their mouths are huge and long, feeding on the paste, and several other fish went into their belly as well.
Our neighbors at the hotel are from Taipei, Taiwan, so we made friends with them quickly. They are also teachers. Their daughters were on the boat, snorkeling with me, too.
We still feel tired, and it's humid out, so today's going to be a lazy "enjoy the A.C." day. We might go for some Halo-Halo (purple ice cream) later.
We might go canyoning (jumping into waterfalls) tomorrow, go see a waterfall, or visit an island.
