MOBY'S MEALTIME REVIEW (3RD)

This small, Italian, and French restaurant is located in a very quiet neighborhood. After a hectic week of teaching, the French and Italian classical music and décor are very relaxing. The chef-owner studied Italian cooking while in England and Italy.

All of the pasta served at Ravioli’s is homemade, and every meal comes with fresh, hot Italian bread. My friend ordered the special of the day, lasagna verdi bolognese (7000 won) which wasn't great. The other special was a spinach cannelloni, made of spinach pasta, filled with cheese, and vegetables, and covered with a tomato sauce, which was to die for! (7000 won). I ordered the ravioli for 6500 won. Pasta pockets filled with smoked salmon, served under a tasty tomato sauce and scrumptious vegetables. It was accompanied with three potatoes fried in garlic and herb butter.

Ravioli’s serves spaghetti with seafood, meat and vegetables, cool vinaigrette, Neapolitan, or béchamel sauce (white sauce). The waitress told us that the spaghetti béchamel isn't recommended! My friend ordered the Neapolitan spaghetti for 6500 won, and it was topped off with steamed, crunchy vegetables. The portion was large, but it tasted a tad bland (but hey, it was Neapolitan, which is normally bland anyway). You can order a larger portion for 1000 won more.

Ravioli's also serves roast beef, ham and mustard, and smoked chicken sandwiches, served on Italian bread. Prices range from 4000 to 5000 won.

The French meals served at Ravioli’s are served with soup, bread or rice, and a drink. One of these dishes is the sirloin steak, for 18 000 won. Another French dish is the tuna steak, served with corrugate olives, under a white wine sauce, 16 000 won. The salmon steak is served under a tomato and orange sauce, also for 16 000 won. I’m getting hunger pangs writing this! Help!

One can order several kinds of beverages, coffee or tea, as well as beer, and French wine. The French wine (17,000 and 23,000 won) complemented our meal and accenting the flavor wonderfully. With the specials and spaghetti dishes a complimentary drink of coffee, cola, or cider is served.
Korean side dishes of fish, donkass, fried shrimp, and cream soup are available.

If you are missing good desserts, Ravioli’s is a goldmine. The cakes they serve for 3000 won include cointreau bavarois, chocolate cheesecake, baked cheese cake, 3 color cake, and banana bavarois. My friend ordered the chocolate cheesecake. It is served so cold that you would think that it just came out of the freezer. As you swallow it, the flavor hits you, and you are taken away.

I ordered the cointreau bavarois, which consisted of cold cream gently placed on top of flakes with a substance similar to ice-cream laying underneath. A crystallized sugar/cointreau combination sat elegantly on top. Both desserts were served with by a white sauce and a splash of chocolate in the middle, neatly placed on the chinaware.
