WHAT'S NEW JAKARTA (DECEMBER 6TH, 2010)
What's new with you guys??
On Thursday, we celebrated our 4th wedding anniversary by having coffee at The Dharmawangsa Hotel, for 5 star prices, dining, ambiance, and 0 star service. http://www.the-dharmawangsa.com/. As a result of the service, we decided to go to Ham Ji Bak Executive Korean restaurant instead for a dinner of sam gup sal (Pork Bacon) and dawayne Jang Gee Gay (Miso bean paste soup) and side dishes.
On Friday, we went to the Taiwanese Embassy, so I could apply for a visa, which was a bit of a drama, but rewarded ourselves with Sizzler's salad bar for lunch (I also skipped breakfast in preparation for this!!). They have a painting of a white Michael Jordan with brown hair there. Then Carol went to her student's mom's (SM) house to watch another SM play the violin. This SM is famous in Italy, whose concerts generally require people to pay over 100$ to see her play. I did not go, to avoid the overeating aspect of these sorts of events. The ambassador of Holland and his family drove Carol home. His daughter, who has mild down's syndrome, goes to our gym, so we know her a little, and Carol talked to her at the party.
Then on Saturday, we met Diane and Deb for a coffee (the Bali 4 we called each other, after the group that went to Bali together; 5 if you include Sung-Sook, but she was not there). Then we went out for dinner at A-Travola for some fine Italian food with Rob/Sue and Sung-Sook. I had the Veal, while Carol ordered a homemade pasta dish with white sauce. Since The Brasserie closed down, A-Travola is THE BEST place for fine dining in Kemang (a suburb of Jakarta where we live) these days. Then we went to Rob and Sue's for some music. it was a goodbye dinner with close friends.
On Sunday we watched a couple of DVDs, had breakfast at Kemang Club, and went to the gym. Took it easy.
Today, Monday, went to the gym again for the 8th day in a row and talked to Dad on the phone/stationary bike (who knew talking to your father could burn 613 calories??), and will go back again this afternoon to study about strength, the chapter I am working on right now in my CFT course, and also to do some abs (core) and push-ups. Then the Bali 5 will go out for a goodbye dinner, as tomorrow is the Muslim New Year holiday, a day off for Carol.
