HELLO FROM KOREA 2017

Hi,

Carol came back a week ago and went right back to work, but I finished.  Went hiking on Monday.  Went hiking again today.  Andy-Zimbabwe, Heather-Calgary and I had lunch at an all you can eat BBQ place for 10$.  Walked off the BBQ meat in the mountains.  So tonight, we've been invited to an all you can eat vegan place.  Gotta balance, I suppose.  Tomorrow, gonna check out the bird estuary, and Sunday, do Brunch at a friend's house with several of Carol's co-workers.  Would it be inappropriate if we brought rum cake without the cake?  It is for 11am, but it will be 5pm somewhere in the world. 

We just Facetimed with ,my dad's  friend, Gary Ross, who is living in Sydney.  Unfortunately, he is in a palliative care facility, with cancer, so it was a bit of a heart-breaking conversation.  Gary, though, has lived a full life and has no regrets.

Hi guys,

I just got home from work!!  I actually left at 11:45 but then my car didn't start and it is frrrrrrrrrrrreeeezing out  tonight!  I had to wait for 45 minutes for someone to come and give me a boost but man, was it ever cold!! He told me to drive around for 30 minutes so that my battery could recharge so I drove to Tim Hortons and got a huge coffee to warm up my hands and then I drove up and down the streets of NDG.  But that's not all.  While I was freezing my ass off waiting for help, 2 cop cars came to a screeching halt in front of my office building...lights flashing and 4 cops got out.  Apparently I set off a silent alarm when I left the building.  I told them it was me and that I had been working. One of them asked me if I was the "cleaner" !!!  I was mortified!  I had to show them ID.  And now I'll probably get in trouble for working so late.  So!  How was YOUR  Friday the 13th???

Very sad about Gary Ross.  Your dad had told me about him.    Enjoy the rest of your time off, Mike.  How come you and Carol don't get the same time off?  That's a bummer.   I might be going to Florida some time in March.  I haven't been there in ages. Well, now I'm going dodo.  It's 1:30 and I'm exhausted.  Going in to work tomorrow so I should try to get a little sleep.

TRAVELS FROM NORTH AMERICA BACK TO SINGAPORE We got to the Burlington airport bright and early.  The security was confused about the Epsom Salts I had in my carry on (it was too heavy for my checked baggage, as I had to take ten pounds out, or pay 50$).   They scanned it 4 times, did a drug and bomb search on it, along with my Kindle and toothbrush, LOL.  I eventually got them through. When I checked in at JFK, Emirates  gave me a window seat, so I changed the JFK-DUBAI portion to an aisle seat, but they could not help me with the Dubai-Spore portion. The people sitting next to me are going to be annoyed with a huge guy taking up 1 and a 1/2 seats, LOL.  I had reserved them in the aisle in Sept., but looks like I got bumped, again, as did Carol.  Next time, cheapie Charlie airlines, all the way!! I was able to use my Korean Air Skymiles on the flight, which is good, because they never expire.  I checked my bag at JFK...

CEBU PART 1

We finally made it to Oslob, Cebu, Philippines. After an excellent trip to Halifax, Nova Scotia to see Brian, Mylene, Jacob, Allysia, and Matt, I flew to Toronto on WestJet to meet Carol for our Philippines Airline flight to Manila.  She took the train from Montreal, after spending time with Erin, Glenn, Norah, Leah, Jim (Dad) and Diane. The flight was uneventful, but at least they had movies.  I got stuck in a middle seat again.  Not great for the old back, but I think it was worse for the lady sitting next me to me in the aisle, as I woke her up or asked her to get by at least seven or eight times, LOL. After getting to the domestic airport at Manila, my pillow went missing.  The cleaners and security helped us look for it. One security guard found it.  We thought it had been stolen, but it was under a chair... Our flight from Manila to Cebu was upgraded to Premium Economy, so we got more food & drinks, as well as priority to get off the plane first....
